Your Questions, Answered

This FAQ covers the most common questions about brows, lips, eyeliner, and lash extensions at Cassandra McKenna Beauty. If you need more information, feel free to reach out—we’re here to guide you every step of the way.

1. Does permanent makeup hurt?

Most clients describe the feeling as mild discomfort rather than pain, majority of my clients will rate it at a 2 on a pain scale, most do fall asleep. I will apply a high-quality topical anesthetic to keep you comfortable throughout your procedure.

2. How long does permanent makeup last?

Results typically last 1–5 years, depending on skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare. Lighter, natural styles tend to fade faster than bolder looks.

3. How soon after Botox or filler can I book?

We recommend waiting 2 weeks before or after your PMU appointment. This allows everything to settle and ensures the best healed result.

4. What’s the healing process like?

You can expect light flaking/peeling for 3–7 days. Color will appear darker at first, then soften as it heals over 6–8 weeks. A perfecting session at 8–12 weeks finalizes your results.

5. Who is a good candidate for permanent makeup?

Permanent makeup works well for most people. However, those who are pregnant, nursing, on Accutane, or have uncontrolled health conditions should wait. Some medical conditions may require doctor clearance.

6. Can I get permanent makeup if I’ve had it done elsewhere?

Yes, but all previous work must be approved before booking. Please send clear photos so we can determine the best approach for touch-ups or correction.

7. How do I prepare for my appointment?

Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and blood thinners 24 hours before. Stop using retinols or harsh exfoliants near the area for at least one week. Arrive with clean skin and no makeup on the area being treated.

8. Will I need a touch-up?

Yes. A perfecting session at 8–12 weeks after your first appointment is required for best healed results and longevity. After that, annual or bi-annual color boosts keep your results looking fresh.

9. Can I wear makeup after my procedure?

Avoid makeup directly on the tattooed area during the initial healing phase (about 7–10 days). You can still wear makeup on untreated areas.

10. Lash Extension FAQs

How often do I need a fill? Every 2–3 weeks to maintain fullness and shape.

Will extensions damage my natural lashes? No, when applied properly and cared for, extensions will not harm your natural lashes.

Can I wear mascara? It’s not recommended, as it can break down adhesive and reduce retention.

11. How do I book an appointment?

All appointments are booked online for convenience. Book online here.
